Today our Spanish class participated in a Spanish Verb Review by hunting for verbs tucked into plastic eggs. Students practiced making present progressive verbs, affirmative tú commands, conjugating regular verbs, irregular verbs, and reflexive verbs.
There was a prize egg for each class and candy for all students to enjoy!
They worked great together helping each other.
It was a beautiful day for hunting for verb eggs.
"¡Eggcelente!" 🐣

La casa de mis sueños
Our Spanish students created their dream home.
They used their new vocabulary to label the names of the rooms and the floor levels in a home.
They also wrote complete sentences in Spanish answering 20 questions, including writing a short description of their dream home!
What an accomplishment! From "hola" in August, to writing complex sentences! Congratulations Spanish students!

Southern Crescent offers so many opportunities to our students. Southern Crescent shared with us the following:
"I am writing to let you know about a few exciting, upcoming initiatives at Southern Crescent Technical College:
1. Our summer internship partnership with the Henry County Water Authority is open again this year—students selected for the internship will work a paid job with the HCWA over the summer and will take an SCTC class through Dual Enrollment during that term. There is an information session on Thursday, April 17, at 5:30pm at SCTC’s Henry County Center (300 Lakemont Drive in McDonough). Interested students will need to attend that session where application and hiring information will be provided.
2. We are offering a one week Ag Camp in Butts County and Upson County this summer—interested students can email me for more details, but it’s a great opportunity for them to learn about this industry through hands-on demonstrations, tours with local business partners, and interactive sessions.
3. Our Ag Entrepreneur Certificate program is starting this fall—students who complete the two semester credential during the 2025-26 school year will be eligible to participate in a pitch contest with $2500 going to the winner for startup costs. Again, interested students can email me with any questions.
4. Lastly, we have another more open-ended Entrepreneurship program that consists of primarily business classes (the Ag program will include both business and Ag coursework) that also culminates in a pitch contest with prize money. If you have any students who would like to participate in this, please have them reach out to me.
We are excited about these opportunities for your students, and are hopeful we’ll have quite a few that are interested. "
If any students have any questions at all, please talk to their counselor!

Upson-Lee High School performed a surprise cardiac drill this morning and we want to thank the members of our staff emergency response team for their efforts. School Nurse Lisa Sollenberger shared information on our drill
The drill started at 901am when Mr. Norris found a student (CPR mannequin) in his room unresponsive. He pushed his Centegix button 3 times (which notified the medical team on campus) and pushed the intercom button to notify the front office that he had a student not breathing in his classroom. An intercom announcement was made for the CPR team to report to room 203 at 902am. The first rescuer (Josh Culverhouse) arrived within 30 seconds after the announcement was made. Rescuer 2 arrived within seconds after Josh. Josh started CPR at 903am. Akia Dawson and Christi Corley brought an AED machine with them and arrived at 903am, shortly after Josh. Wayne Puckett applied the AED pads and performed the AED functions at 903am. 911 was activated by Sargeant Kirschmann. Several staff members did chest compressions while waiting for AED prompts and EMT's to arrive. EMT's arrived and transported the patient to ER.
This was a surprise drill, only 2-3 people knew information on the drill, and they stepped back and let the responders use their training. We had 15 staff members (responders) show up when the announcement was made over the intercom. CPR/chest compressions began less than 1 minute after the announcement was made. An AED machine was brought to the scene and pads applied shortly after chest compressions began. A shock was given within 2 minutes of the announcement being made. If this had been a real situation, a life would have been saved!
We are very impressed and proud of our response time and the CPR certified staff members who showed up to help when they heard the announcement!
Thank you so much to our staff who responded to help with this emergency training.
